New Leadership#

The party arrives in Vallaki where the banners of Lady Wachter can be seen through the smoke, comming from the city. At the city gates, Reese interviews a guard and figures out that Vallaki has been attacked by an army of undead. The attack came from within the city - namely the coffin maker shop. Before the undead were able to destroy the city, Lady Wachter was able to strike an unknown deal with the intruders and they left. In the aftermath, the city guards arrested the coffin maker. The Baron and Izek are apparently holed up inside the Barons Mansion.

The Group decides to head towards the Blue Water Inn, walking along streets lined with clear signs of the battle. The church is in bad shape, with rubble everywhere and signigicant fire damage. Before entering to the Blue Water Inn, the party visits the orphanage to talk to Milivoj. He is still recovering but now awake and informs the party, that he sold the stolen bones to the coffin maker called Hendrick von der Vort and received his payment from a character the party recognizes as Anastrasya Karelova.

At the “Bluewater inn” everybody gets a room and the party decides to pay a visit to the coffin maker shop, which is located at the eastern gate. After luring away the two guards in front of the shop, the pary enters through the front door. Inside the workshop, there are 13 coffins and tools, which are common for a wood workshop. Reese detects magical items in a wardrobe and finds the stolen bones.

In order to return the stolen bones, the party makes its way back to the church. After entering through a broken window in the back, it is quickly clear, that a massacre has taken place inside the church. a foul smell lingers, and multiple corpses litter the floor. among them Father petrovich who is hanged upside down above the altar. The group heads towards the cript and returns the bones on the altar.

Afterwards, the group piles up the corpses and set them on fire, before making a desperate escape through the window. The fire and noise attracted attention, a guard was looking through the boarded up windows just as the party was escaping through the back of the church.

Back in the Blue Water Inn a chat with the Innkeeper reveales, that he might know something about The Keeper of the Feathers. Not much can be learned, but the pary is ensured, that the “Ravens of Barovia” are watching/guarding over them. Furthermore, the party learns about an order of paladins who served a dragon called Argynvost.

The party ends the day resting at the Blue Water Inn.
